Our second film is out now

Today we released our second film, Tigray: The War the World Is Ignoring, and the Women It’s Destroying.

In the 2020 to 2022 war in Tigray, northern Ethiopia, sexual violence against women and girls was widespread. A 2025 Tigrayan inquiry found that more than 280,000 of the women and girls it reached had suffered sexual violence. On 23 September 2026, the fighting returned.

The film follows Birhan Gebrekirstos Mezgbo, a Tigrayan advocate who spent years recording women’s testimonies, as she watches the war come back from New Jersey and calls her sister at home. It also hears from Rita Kahsay, co-founder of EASE, with animation by Gabrielle Tesfaye.

The film comes with an impact campaign to support Tigray’s one-stop centres, where survivors of sexual violence get medical care, psychological support and legal help. You can donate to EASE or send a two minute letter to your MP on our Take Action page.

Content note: the film includes testimonies about sexual violence. The women’s identities are protected. Donations go directly to EASE. MAZE receives no money from this campaign.
